It has been said that the sunsets in Santorini are the best in the world. From the ‘Caldera’ breathtaking views of the volcano & neighbouring islands. From the east, miles of dark sandy or pebbled beaches. Everywhere one sees small domed churches and remnants of days gone by. Santorini is not comparable with any other Greek island. What makes it so different from any other island, is its imposing landscape, the ‘Caldera’ with its impressionistic contrast of colours, its terrifying birth....
Arrive Athens at any time. Transfer to your hotel. Free time to relax and in the evening pick-up from the hotel for a short drive to Piraeus passing by the port of Zeas (special port for private yachts) and a short stop to the famous Microlimano where you will enjoy a drink of Ouzo and Greek appetizers. Then drive back to Athens to the old area of Plaka, for dinner in a typical Greek Tavern with bouzouki music and Greek Folk Dances – overnight.
After breakfast depart from the hotel for a morning guided sightseeing tour of Athens, featuring the Acropolis, the Ancient Market, Royal Palace, the Parliament. Afternoon free to your leisure, walk around the picturesque old area of Plaka – overnight.
Early morning transfer to Piraeus port to take the boat to Santorini. After about 4,5 hours journey, arrival in SANTORINI where even from the boat, one can see that this is perhaps the most breathtaking of all the Greek islands with the white-washed houses clinging to the steep cliff called ‘Caldera’. From the port of Athinios, transfer to your hotel. Afternoon free to your leisure to explore the island’s magnificent beaches, where the sand is black, red or white, the sun is hot and the sea is deep blue and crystal clear. Overnight.
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Caldera beach Station, not far from the Ancient site at Akrotiri and by the well known REMEZZO tavern, to board the DIVEBOAT. This dive station offers easy & quick access to all dive spots and is the best way to start this magnificent diving experience in the mystical volcanic underwater world. While on board preparing your equipment, you will be briefed by the captain as to which dive spots you will visit. At the NEA KAMENI dive-spot you will enjoy diving the sloping formations of lava rocks while schools of small fishes follow the divers all through the dive. Sometimes, divers have the unique experience of diving in sulphide water coming from the numerous thermal springs that are around the volcanic crater and give a bright yellow-green colour in the water, adding a different dimension into diving. During the dives at NEA KAMENI & PALEA KAMENI, you will be guided by our experienced dive-masters through the ledges and crevices of the volcanic drop-offs where seahorses, nudibranches & tiny arrow crabs are nestled. In between the dives you will return to the Caldera Beach station where you will have enough time for a delicious mid-day snack at the REMEZZO Tavern with Greek delicacies and a variety of freshly cut salads. After the second dive is completed you will be returned at the station from where you will be transferred back to your hotel. The rest of your afternoon is free to relax and enjoy the island at your leisure. Overnight.
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer again to the Caldera beach Station to board the DIVEBOAT for another exciting day of diving. This time it will be at the CALDERA CLIFF, where the western coastline of the island ends up abruptly meeting the famous SANTORINI CALDERA. A big basin covering approximately 32 square miles, offering fantastic wall diving that gradually goes down to depth from 300 to 600 meters of deep blue crystal clear water. There your dive-masters will guide you through lava walls, home to different colour sponges, small fishes, some groupers and a kind of barracuda. In between the dives again, you will return to the Caldera Beach station for a delicious lunch at the REMEZZO Tavern with their local delicacies. After having enough time to relax enjoying the breathtaking view, you will board the DIVEBOAT for your second dive and those who had the ‘DISCOVER SCUBA’ experience, can have their first open water dive, up to 12 meters with private dive-master. When the second dive is completed you will be returned to the station from where you will be transferred back to your hotel. The rest of your afternoon is free to your leisure. Overnight.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will start a full day tour of the island (optional), starting with a guided tour at the archaeological site of AKROTIRI where the excavations have brought to light one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean. Next stop will be a guided tour to one of Santorini’s famous wineries. The island’s fertile volcanic soil cultivated carefully over the years, has made Santorini well known for its wines. You will be guided through the premises and through the history of Santorini’s wines & their origins to end up the visit with a delicious experience of «wine tasting». Continuing our tour of the island you will visit OIA, the other fascinating town built on the edge of a cliff on the northwest tip of the island, where you will probably have the chance to see the sun sinking in the Aegean, in one of the most wonderful sunsets. Early evening return to your hotel. Overnight.
After breakfast at the hotel, time free for some last minute shopping and around noon check out from your hotel and transfer to port of Athinios to take the boat back to Piraeus where you will arrive early evening. Transfer from Port to your hotel in Athens. Overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport for your departure flight back home.
